Parking Lot Pickup

The Ontario Public Library now offers Parking Lot Pick up.  This contactless service allows the pick up of items requested through holds by appointment. The designated pick up location will be at the south door of the Library/Town Hall Facility (the back Parking Lot).

Beginning Monday, June 29

  • Pickup appointments will be scheduled each half-hour
    • Monday through Friday,
    • 10am – 3:30pm
    • We will expand these hours in future phases
  • Face masks are required per order of Wayne County while in the Town Hall/Library facility and outside of your car.

Select books, audiobooks, DVDs and music before you come to the library:

  • Make requests online with OWWL 24/7, or
  • Telephone us at 315-524-8381

To request materials with OWWL online

  • Login to OWWL to request library materials (place holds) as you normally would
    • Requests for items from other libraries cannot be filled — PLS delivery for OWWL has yet to resume
    • Search for items located at Ontario Public Library
    • Please note: Due to high demand, requests will take longer than normal to fulfill

To request materials by telephone

  • Call the library (315)524-8381 to request titles
  • Have your library card with you; we will request your barcode
  • Requests are limited to seven items per day
  • Feel free to request picture books or any books by subject if you do not have specific titles.

For all requests

  • Library staff will call you when your materials are ready for pickup
  • Book an appointment: We request confirming contact phone number
    • Pickup Hours: Monday through Friday from 10am – 3:30pm.
    • We will expand these hours in future phases
  • Please note: Due to high demand, requests will take longer than normal to fulfill

Parking Lot Pickup at the library:

  • Come to the library at your scheduled time. Do not plan to enter the library
  • Park your car in a South parking lot, located behind the building
  • Please wear a mask.
  • The designated Holds Pickup Cart is outside the main door, left of the Bookdrop area
    • In the event of inclement weather the Holds Pickup Cart will be moved inside the Town Hall Facility accessible from the back parking lot
  • Look for your name on the bag; handle only your bag.
    • A checkout receipt is with your material
  • Once you have your bag(s), please proceed to leave the area.

2020 Summer Reading Program Details

Now – August 14

Join our virtual Summer Reading Program.  While Ontario Public Library continues to be physically closed until further notice, all our members and friends, children, teens, and adults can celebrate this year’s theme, Imagine Your Story, by logging their reading, earning prizes, and participating in special virtual programs and activities that will get everyone into our shared stories.

READSquared is the a web site we are using for our Summer Reading Program. The READSquared site allows users to engage in reading challenges, log reading hours and books, earn badges and prizes.

  • Register online to track your reading using ReadSquared; http://ontariopubliclibraryny12.readsquared.com
  • Create your username and password using your email
    • Remember to write down your username and password
    • And store the information in a safe place
  • Sign up for one of our 4 groups
    • PreReader: Birth to age 5
    • Kids: Ages 5-12
    • Teens: Ages 12-17
    • Adults: Ages 17+

After signing up, you will start earning badges for reading and completing virtual events and missions. Remember to follow the instructions for the missions and events to complete your badges.

Summer Reading by Age Group

  • PreReaders – Birth to age 5
    • Record number of books read
    • Receive a badge for every 10 books you read
    • Two new games will be unlocked for every badge earned
    • One prize winner will be chosen randomly from all group badge winners
    • Winners selected weekly starting July 6
  • Kids – Ages 5-12
    • Record number of minutes read
    • Receive a badge for every 100 minutes read
    • Two new games will be unlocked for every badge earned
    • One prize winner will be chosen randomly from all group badge winners
    • Winners selected weekly starting July 6
  • Teens – Ages 12-17
    • Record number of minutes read
    • Receive a badge for every 100 minutes read
    • Two new games will be unlocked for every badge earned
    • One prize winner will be chosen randomly from all group badge winners
    • Winners selected weekly starting July 6
  • Adults – Ages 17+
    • Record number of books read
    • Receive a badge for every book read
    • Two new games will be unlocked for every badge earned
    • 2020 being a special year, you will be rewarded
      • with badges,
      • virtual game,
      • and the satisfaction and pleasure of knowing how much you’ve read.

Especially for Youth: Miss Anne will be hosting fun activities and events on our Facebook page and our YouTube channel. Storytimes and more can be viewed there.

Especially for Adults: Virtual programs scheduled for adult participation will be posted on our website and on our new events calendar (Coming Soon).

Gardening Program with Petra: July 10 @ 3PM.

Our next virtual gardening class on 7 Easy Seeds to Succession Sow with Petra is coming up! Register to receive your personal invitation and meeting link.

These are Zoom meetings. All participants will be sent a program invitation to the email provided unless the program has filled to capacity. In this case, an email will be sent to notify you the class has been filled. No patron email addresses will be shared.

  • Two sessions remain this summer
    • July 10, Wednesday 3:00 : Seven Easy Seeds to Succession Sow
    • August 14, Tuesday 3:00 : Sowing Autumn Abundance in August
  • Space is limited, so register early

The classes are being offered cooperatively thanks to outreach by Wood Library, sharing of the Zoom platform by Macedon Public Library and program funding by Ontario Public Library for Ontario registrants.
