Main Room Construction Project

What does this mean for Ontario Residents?

The Ontario Public Library will be closing Dec. 22, 2025 until completion of main room construction project. The last day the library will be open is Saturday, December 20, closing at 2pm that day.

Starting December 22, we will begin the process of removing all the furniture and books from the main room to the kid’s room. The contractors are scheduled to start January 12, 2026. Project will take approximately 12 weeks.

What will be available during closing?

Libby and Kanopy will allow for e-books, e-audibooks, e-magazines and some movies and television shows to be downloaded from home.

Some Library Programs will continue in Library Community room, and/or at the Town Hall meeting room and Parks and Recreation Center (Casey Park). This information will be posted on our Events Calendar & Facebook.com/LibOnTheRidge.

Your Library card will allow you to borrow material and return physical materials at 41 of the member libraries-many are close to us! (Williamson, Walworth & Marion).

What changes will be seen to main room when project complete?

  • New Look! New Carpeting and freshly painted walls.
  • New Small Study/Tutor Room
  • New Ceiling and new energy efficient Lighting
  • New shorter Shelves.
  • New circulation desk with ADA compliant check-out space.

How is this being funded?

The Ontario Public Library applied for and received NY State Construction Aid.
